      Cargill is looking for high caliber people to join the team as an Industrial Maintenance Technician through our Loan-to-Scholarship program. Cargill’s Loan-to-Scholarship and Career Placement Program will pay for student’s 2-year Associate degree program, up front, as a “loan” to the student. Upon graduating with a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher, working at Cargill (Butler, WI) for 2 years post-graduation and meeting all other program requirements, Cargill will forgive the loan as a “scholarship”. The student will not be responsible for any educational expenses covered under the Loan-to-Scholarship program.

      If you are seeking a 2-year Associates degree in an Industrial Maintenance trades Program you may qualify (local Wisconsin colleges ONLY). Eligible trades include but are not limited to:

      • Industrial Refrigeration Technician
      • Automation System Technology

      Program Requirements

      • Graduate in 2 years (from a list of approved WI colleges)
      • Work for Cargill during school Breaks
      • Accept Cargill’s Employment Terms and Conditions
      • 2-year of successful employment at Cargill (Butler, WI or Milwaukee, WI) post-graduation

      Position Purpose

      Employees in our Loan-to-Scholarship program working as Industrial Technician Assistants in our maintenance departments are an important role in the future operations of our facility in Butler, WI and Milwaukee, WI. While an employee is completing their degree and working for Cargill while on break from school, the employee will be preforming the job as an industrial technician assistant. An industrial technician assistant works alongside an upper level maintenance, electrician, or electronic technician employee while they learn the facility. The employee is exposed to what tasks different jobs titled in the Maintenance and Electronic department would perform.
      While performing the duties of an industrial technician assistant, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions with slippery surfaces at varied heights; moving mechanical parts; fast paced warm/cool environment. The employee must work with chemicals and solvents and have the ability to operate moving vehicles. Positions require standing or walking the entire shift, the use of stairs, and the use of PPE which is required in all areas of the facility. (Not an all-inclusive list)

      Principal Accountabilities

      • Perform repetitive or non-routine tasks. Examples include:
      • May operate heavy machinery (including forklift) or computer programs
      • Use a variety of tools and retrieve parts
      • Conduct daily set-up of area
      • Troubleshooting
      • Working around or with machinery and power sources such as electricity
      • Ensuring safety, food safety and quality
      • Cleanliness and housekeeping
      • Maintaining a safe working environment

      Required Qualifications

      • Legal to work in the US18 Years of age or older
      • Fluent in English
      • High School Diploma or Equivalent
      • Basic Math
      • Knowledge of basic tools and maintenance related subjects
      • Willingness to participate on various teams such as HAZMAT

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Computer skills
      • Previous experience
