      Main duties of the job

      This role works with policy and communications colleagues across the organisation to translate policy insights into programmes that the NHS Confederation delivers with commercial partners such as Google Health and AstraZeneca.

      As the Industry Engagement and Policy Manager, you will:

      • Utilise your strong background in health policy to ensure our partnership work remains relevant and valuable for our members.
      • Design and deliver a broad portfolio of policy and engagement programmes with commercial partners and NHS members.
      • Develop content for major events most notably NHS ConfedExpo, our flagship event co-delivered with NHS England.
      • Work with the Head of Industry Engagement and Policy to drive engagement with a range of commercial partners while ensuring alignment with our strategic policy priorities and the needs of our members.
      • Account manage a number of partnerships, and also work with the Head of the team to develop a pipeline of new partners.

      About us

      The NHS Confederation is the membership body for the NHS, which brings together and speaks on behalf of all parts of the health system.

      Our membership spans the full range of organisations that provide and commission services, including acute, community, mental health and ambulance service trusts; clinical commissioning groups; primary care networks; and integrated care systems. We work across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and are also contracted by the Department of Health and Social Care to provide the NHS Employers service, which acts on behalf of employers within the NHS provider sector in England. This places us in a strong position to influence workforce policy development and implementation.

      Through our networks we speak on behalf of providers and commissioners across the different sectors, but we are also uniquely placed to articulate the interests of the whole healthcare system.       Job responsibilities

The post holder will design and deliver a broad portfolio of policy and engagement programmes with commercial partners and NHS members and develop content for major events most notably NHS ConfedExpo, our flagship event delivered in partnership with NHS England.       Responsibilities

      • Engage with commercial partners, using your understanding of the full range of policy and influencing work undertaken by the NHS Confederation to ensure alignment with the issues facing our members
      • Work with the Head of Industry Engagement and Policy to account manage commercial partners and proactively identify new partnership opportunities
      • Lead the delivery of strategic programmes with commercial partners, ensuring timely delivery of high quality outputs and maintaining strong relationships with both partners and cross-functional colleagues supporting project delivery
      • Collaborate with policy and network colleagues to generate new products, such as reports, events and improvement programmes, that add value for our members
      • Advise on partnership proposals and sponsorship offers applying your understanding of health policy to ensure they reflect both the NHS Confederations and our partners strategic priorities
      • Manage and own the content development for NHS ConfedExpo, our two-day conference delivered in partnership with NHS England, helping to shape the programme themes, coordinating a programme that reflects our members priorities, and ensuring all sponsored content is relevant and high quality
      • Develop content for a programme of events throughout the year, including one-off events and regular engagement events and briefings

      • A background in public sector policymaking and/or private sector public policy advice or research, and up-to-date knowledge of the current UK health policy landscape
      • Demonstrable experience of excellent relationship building and account management skills, including experience of independently managing senior stakeholders to build effective engagement
      • Experience of end-to-end project or programme delivery, from scoping to evaluation
      • Experience of developing policy-led content as written outputs and for events such as conferences or roundtables
      • Experience of developing commercial propositions and creating new income-generating products and services
      • Ability to be responsive and agile in an environment with evolving priorities
