      We are looking for a dedicated Infection Contral & Employee Health LVN like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

      What You Will do in this Role:

      • Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
      • Performs patient and employee screening and immunization according to national, state, agency and facility policies and procedures, and existing standard of care. This usually includes giving intramuscular or subcutaneous injections to patients and staff of the hospital utilizing universally recognized sites and aseptic technique.
      • Develops and maintains filing systems that support the employee health and patient immunization programs. Maintains patient and employee personal information in a secure manner.
      • Uses the department employee health database for recording employee health data collected in the support of hospital infection control surveillance programs.
      • Performs all nursing actions pertinent to infection control surveillance programs according to manufacturer, facility and agency procedures, guidelines and recommendations.
      • Educates individuals about various aspects of disease epidemiology. Serves as consultant to numerous facility support services and departments regarding disease epidemiology and disease control.
      • Serves as liaison between facility and legacy health department’s personnel using online databases. Reports to local and state community agencies regarding the health status of those individuals necessitating community follow-up.
      • Assists the Case Manager with collecting, collating, and updating the Inter-facility Transfer flowsheets, Communicates with all disciplines to assure completion and compliance with regulatory requirements.
      • Undertakes special projects, at the discretion of the department director.
        Maintains all mandatory training and continuing education current at all times.
      • Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

      Knowledge Skills Abilities

      • Knowledge of nursing procedures and techniques and of the principles and processes used in providing appropriate patient care.

      • Knowledge of principles of biological, physical and social science as acquired in vocational nursing school.

      • Knowledge of medication transcription and administration.

      • Skill in using reasoning to identify problems, in considering appropriate resolution of situations.

      • Skill in the use of a desktop or laptop computer and the following office software applications: Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Excel, including word-processing, accounting, presentation software and Electronic Health Record.

      • Ability to provide patient medical care, to provide educational and safety training; to prepare and maintain records.

      • Ability to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others. Successful in building good working relationships with others.

      • Ability to learn other computer software applications.

      • Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations in practical situations; ability to analyze data and process it into usable information.

      • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and tact always.

      What Qualifications You Will Need:

      • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
      • Must be licensed as a licensed vocational nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
      • BLS (AHA) required.
      • Minimum recommended three (3) years’ experience in healthcare required.
      • Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

      Your Shift: M-F 8am-5p

      Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.
