      Manages planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of infection prevention and control program in the ambulatory setting. Collaborates with and makes recommendations to Ambulatory leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Assures Ambulatory policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards. Identifies and implements infection control goals and objectives related to surveillance, data analysis and reporting, infection prevention and control practices. Integrates programs/services with departmental, ambulatory, and organizational goals. Serves as resource in educating patients and staff. Collaborates with Quality, Safety & Service division on regional initiatives.




      Essential Responsibilities:



      • Responsible for program administration of Ambulatory Infection Control. Performs critical thinking and solution design for infection related issues across the market. Provides direction during inspection or audit reviews. Designs and implements surveillance/prevention programs for Ambulatory Service Departments procedure-related infections.

      • Monitors and reports on infection trends in the ambulatory service departments. Develops applicable interventions. Initiates epidemiological investigations of significant clusters of infection. Institutes appropriate corrective action to protect patients and employees from transmission of communicable diseases.

      • Investigates patient, physician, staff, and visitor exposure to communicable disease at the Ambulatory Service Departments. Coordinates follow-up of exposed persons. Develops, implements, and conducts ongoing education programs in compliance with regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs.

      • Collaborates with Ambulatory leadership of outside agencies in case of infections or outbreaks of infection in members cared for in outside facilities. Ensures Ambulatory compliance with bloodborne pathogen and TB exposure requirements of state and federal agencies. Assists Hawaii State Department of Health in investigation of cases of communicable disease.Represents and communicates the Ambulatory Service Departments Infection Control issues and metrics on the Regional Infection Control Committee.

      • Serves as active member and consultant on various clinic committees. Consults to clinic staff and patients and Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Coordinates special projects (e.g., High Level Disinfection Initiative). Collaborates with Quality, Safety & Service division on regional initiatives.

      • May perform patient care to the extent necessary to maintain clinical expertise, competency, and licensing necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and to direct the provision of care in the clinic. Quarterly rounds to MOBs and clinics including Neighbor Islands. Provide cross-coverage for Hospital Infection Control Program.

      • Provides direct patient care on an as needed basis. Provides services that are within scope of license and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements relevant to clinical role performed.

      • Incorporates the KP Nursing Vision, Model and Values throughout their Nursing Practice.
