      The Infection Prevention Coordinator is a specialized position to directly assist the Director of Infection Prevention and serves as an integral member of the inpatient and ambulatory health care team with a focus on both inpatient and outpatient services. This individual monitors adherence to standards, guidelines and treatment modalities. The Coordinator assists the director in coordinating the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of Infection Control Program. Performs surveillance for case finding and case definition for nosocomial infection. Establishes indicators, thresholds, and investigates clusters or trends of hospital acquired infections or safety incidents among patients and employees and institutes control measures in collaboration with the hospital Infectious Disease Physician. This position is an educational resource for all employees regarding infection control related issues. General direction is received from the Director of Infection Prevention, who holds the employee responsible for the achievement of desired goals and outcome measures.

      Education:

      · Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, public health or health care related experience required.

      Experience:

      · Minimum two years of acute care hospital experience.

      · relevant experience in infection control/prevention is preferred.

      · Experience in adult education is preferred.

      · Knowledge regarding disinfection and sterilization techniques is preferred.

      · Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and procedures pertaining to Infection Control, preferred.
