Job Description

- Execute or advise on electronic health record configuration and maintenance to support safe, appropriate, and effective medication use, including (but not limited to):
- Medication use cycle information infrastructure
- Ordering, dispensing, administration and documentation workflows
- Billing processes around medication use cycle
- Clinical decision support tools addressing drug-drug interactions, allergies, dosing appropriateness, route selection, dose adjustment rules , etc.
- Medication orders in order sets and protocols
- Guidance for formulary product selection, restrictions, and/or REMS requirements
- Integration with third party information systems and/or technologies
- Medication use cycle information infrastructure
- Clinical knowledge and expertise
- Provide clinical oversight of Department of Pharmacy information system configuration
- Provide consultation on clinical or operational impact of information system configuration
- Provide consultation on medication use cycle
- Act as liaison between clinical teams and informatics teams for workflows, systems and vendors
- Ensure medication use process complies with applicable regulations
Serve as system consultant/expert resource for pharmacy department information systems technology projects as subject matter expert or project manager as needed/assigned.
Precepting
Serve as preceptor for pharmacy residents and doctor of pharmacy candidates
- Other additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
- A current Pharmacist’s license issued by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy.
- Pharmacy Informatics Residency training required OR equivalent work experience in practice and informatics.
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database and telecommunication applications
- Knowledge of pharmacy services within an integrated health-system utilizing various information technologies such as computerized-prescriber order entry, point-of-care bar-code medication administration, and automated dispensing cabinets, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of outcomes analysis with regard to data warehouses and data mining are desirable.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written presentation.
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a complex team environment; collaborate with external and internal professionals and other customers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with ease and efficiency.

- Pharmacy PGY2 Informatics Residency
Department Overview
The purpose of the Informatics Pharmacist is to provide the services of a licensed pharmacist to the pharmacy
information management team with responsibility for the information systems infrastructure, safe and proper
distribution and use of medications and pharmacy practice within all OHSU Health practice settings.
Informatics pharmacists are responsible for development, implementation, analysis, design and optimization of
the EHR and ancillary systems configuration to support Department of Pharmacy workflows in a variety of
formats and practice situations.
Informatics Pharmacists assist Department of Pharmacy service lines that interact with the electronic health
record or ancillary systems, and work collaboratively with other health care IT/Informatics teams through the
health system in support of the EHR and ancillary systems as needed.

Additional Details
Telework up to 100%, and may require occasional travel to OHSU Health or partner campus locations as needed. May require evening and/or weekend shifts for coverage during on call assignment, system upgrades, go-lives, or other tasks.
