      The opportunity

      The Information Security Analyst I Summer Intern, reporting to the Information Security Operations Manager, will monitor and protect university computing networks, assets, and applications. You will collect and analyze data in complex, virtualized, multi-site computing environments. This internship will be remote. #LI-Remote

      Please note this is a Summer Internship position.

      What you'll do:

      • You will analyze security incidents using industry-leading SIEM platforms.

      • You will assess, evaluate, and respond to security detections escalated from different sources.

      • You will perform initial investigation and escalation of security threats or incidents.

      • You will collaborate with analysts, engineers, and other partners to create and develop SOC procedures.

      • You will help develop SIEM use cases and alert runbooks.

      • You will perform real-time cyber defense incident handling (e.g., forensic collections, intrusion correlation and tracking, threat analysis, and direct system remediation) tasks to support Incident Response Teams (IRTs)

      • You will maintain applicable reports of cyber threat intelligence analysis.

      • You will help operate information security management and protection technologies.

      • You will monitor computing networks, assets, and applications for abnormal activities and indicators of compromise.

      • You will develop incident detection and response capabilities.

      • You will assist with risk management, security assessment, auditing, and security authorization projects, as directed by the university's Information Security Management team.

      What we're looking for:

      • Summer Internship (May through August 2024)

      • Academic Degree(s) and/ areas of study: Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or computer science, with a focus on cybersecurity.

      • Professional Certification(s): Security+, GSEC, or relevant certification.

      • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

      • Strong critical thinking skills.
