      Primary Purpose: Under the supervision of the Director of Technology Services, the Information Security Associate will work to support Region 16 ESC's Managed Services team as necessary in providing security services for the organization and/or contracted LEAs. This will include assistance for services offered to LEAs through Region 16 ESC's Technology Services contract options. This position requires knowledge of network security, Internet security, security education, security policy, and data classification. The Information Security Associate is responsible for ensuring high levels of customer service quality and availability. He/She is self-motivated with excellent teamwork skills and the discipline to work extremely well on his/her own, if required. The Information Security Associate possesses strong organizational and communication skills involving the ability to disseminate information and knowledge while also listening and putting into practice advice and instructions. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required Computer related degree/certificate from an accredited education entity required (two years of related work experience may be substituted for this requirement) Network, operating system, or information security related industry recognized certifications preferred Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Demonstrated experience in communication Must be able to relate to a wide range and large number of individuals Work experience in a K-12 education environment preferred Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, IT systems, and networking technologies preferred Knowledge of network, PC, Microsoft, and Google operating systems preferred Knowledge of Office 365 and Google Workspace for Education cloud platforms preferred Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information required Must be eager to learn and share new knowledge Highly self-motivated and directed Must display responsibility by assuming personal accountability for own work Must be team and service-oriented Working Conditions: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more) Environment: Work is performed in an office environment; occasional after-hours work; may be required to be on-call 24 hours a day; may work alone; occasional prolonged hours; tolerate occasional regionwide and/or statewide travel; regular exposure to noise Mental Demands: Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion Regular Attendance is an essential function Major Responsibilities and Duties: Assists the Managed Services team and/or contracted LEAs with services offered through the Region 16 ESC Cybersecurity Services contract options. Assists the Managed Services team and/or contracted LEAs in solving any security-related problems and/or recommending improvements. Assists the Networking Security Administrator and Information Security Specialist in conducting and reporting internal and external vulnerability scans for contracted LEAs. Assists Networking Security Administrator in configuring, deploying, and evaluating network security event logs. Manages the processing of incoming calls to the Managed Services team via telephone, web-based, and email to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues. Assists the Managed Services team and/or contracted LEAs in conducting cybersecurity risk assessments. Assists the Director of Technology Services in the management of the Security Awareness and Online Training component of the Region 16 ESC Cybersecurity Services contract. Assists the Director of Technology Services in the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures) under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer or designee. Maintains open communication and confidentiality with clients. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the Chief Technology Officer. A functional cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters. Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures. Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned. Annual Number of Work Days: 226
