      The City of Garden Grove is now hiring for an
      INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AIDE
      Under general supervision, the Information Technology Aide (title: Administrative Aide) completes a wide variety of routine administrative and techical assignments in support of the Information Technology Department. This part-time position is limited to a one-year assignment.

      Provide basic technical support to City staff and elected or appointed officials

      Configure and deploy desktop PC's, laptop computers, printers, projectors, phones, and mobile devices

      Install and maintain software on desktop PC's, laptop computers, printers, projectors, phones, and mobile devices

      Troubleshoot computer, networking, printing, software, and mobile device issues

      Maintain and organize IT work spaces, commodities, tools, and equipment

      Add, remove, and manage IT system user accounts

      Prepare a wide variety of written materials, including correspondence, reports, procedure guides, and instructions related to City IT systems

      Review and summarize third-party software and hardware publications and documents

      Attend and provide support to various staff, City Council and commission meetings

      Perform other related duties as required
      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
      Two years of college (minimum 60 semester units) with major work in computer science, information technology, public administration, business administration, political science, or a related field is required. Information Technology experience is considered highly desirable.

      KNOWLEDGE OF:
      Applications and functions of personal computer hardware, software, peripheral devices and systems support functions; basic networking principles; computer and peripheral equipment maintenance methods and procedures; fundamentals of data processing; customer service techniques and principles; basic principles and methods of public administration; principles of management and organization; statistical and research methods; administrative survey techniques; graphic and tabular presentation of data.

      ABILITY TO:
      Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a computer; use word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics programs in a network environment; interact effectively with users, other City personnel and the public; interpret software documentation accurately and logically; use independent judgment to identify and resolve problems; follow directions and make sound analyses and evaluations; do research, evaluate data and prepare clear and comprehensive reports; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; commit to providing quality customer service.

      OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
      A valid California class C driver license is highly desirable.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS
      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Incumbents in this classification sit, lift up to 24Ibs, crouch, kneel, squat, speak clearly, hear normal voice conversation, distinguish shades and colors, see small details, use a telephone, type or use 10-key, and work on a personal computer.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT
      The work environment described here is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Incumbents in this classification primarily work inside and may be required to work overtime and weekends (or as on-call as needed basis) and in direct contact with the public.
