Install, repair, and maintain two-way radio equipment/systems, including periodic reliability checks and any necessary modifications of equipment to meet present needs; Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance.
Utilize and maintain test equipment.
Perform programming and firmware updates to two-way radios across multiple manufacturers and models.
Provide assistance and support to co-workers in specific situations, including climbing communication towers.
Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, logs, and reports.
Attend trainings and study publications to remain current in electronic technology.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of the components of digital trunking and analog simulcast two-way radio communication systems.
Knowledge of solid-state electronics, the operational design of circuits, and electronic testing equipment.
Knowledge of the common causes of failure that occur in radio transmitting and receiving equipment.
Knowledge of the principles of antenna design and construction.
Ability to adapt new technology and methods to enhance program effectiveness.
Ability to produce highly reliable repairs, modifications, installations.
Ability to quickly assess problems and execute a plan of action.
Able to gather requirements, design, plan, coordinate, prioritize, and implement complex technical projects, individually and across diverse teams.
Ability to use small office equipment, computers, and highly technical computer applications.
Ability to repair or install telecommunications systems, computer hardware or network systems, and complex software or management information systems.
Ability to climb towers.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical and computer reports and related materials.
Ability to use independent judgement and work with little direct supervision as situations warrant.
Job Title: Information Technology Analyst I - Radio Systems (In Office) Department: Information Technology Hiring Range: $60,152.82 - $73,937.87 Compensation Grade: 3102 Compensation Pay Range: $60,152.82 - $93,236.87 Posted Internally and Externally Job Posting End Date: June 30, 2024Buncombe County's IT Department is hiring for a Radio Systems Analyst to install and configure our radio systems equipment.
This position is fully in-office and works out of the IT Department at 59 Woodfin Place, Asheville NC 28801. This position works a regular schedule of Monday - Friday 8AM to 5PM.
We expect interviews for this position to occur shortly after the position closes on June 30th, with a goal of having the new hire start work on Monday July 15th.
Purpose of the position:This position is responsible for the installation, inspection, configuration, maintenance, and repair of two-way radios, two-way radio systems, and other electronic communication, monitoring, and accessory equipment.
Minimum Education, Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): Associate’s degree in electronics, communications technology, or related field and two (2) years of experience with two-way radio communications equipment/systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
