      Job Summary

      The Information Technology (IT) Network Architect, under direction, manages enterprise network architecture, design, integration, configuration, and implementation of computer networks, local area networks, wide area networks, internet, intranet, cloud, convergence, and other data communication systems.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      • Reviews emerging network (data and voice) technologies, tools, products, and services. Oversees the selection of process for the acquisition of these technologies, tools, products, and services.

      • Conducts research, development, and business assessment of new emerging network products, market trends, and industry knowledge. Initiates push-to-talk over cellular (PoC), pilots, and prepares white papers and documentation of PoC results, recommendations, and operational support.

      • Implements network framework by defining principles, best practices, and standards.

      • Develops cost analysis models and vendor comparisons for large scale projects to ensure cost effective and efficient operations. Measures feasibility of various networking (including convergence) approaches.

      • Meets with IT stakeholders to gather business requirements and their implications on networking solutions.

      • Assists in creating necessary and appropriate application infrastructures for IT solutions.

      • Assists in ensuring that applications are appropriately secured.

      Additional Responsibilities

      • Serves as a Tier 3 resource to the Network Engineering team with the configuration, design, and troubleshooting of complex wired and wireless networking systems.

      • Supervises Network Engineering team and provides direction, guidance and leadership to ensure the environment is evolving to meet the present and future needs of the organization.

      Minimum Requirements

      • Education – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems or closely related field.

      • Experience – Ten years of related experience in network engineering, routing and switching, wireless projects, network protocols, encryption, topologies, overall system integration/convergence, and/or video and data convergence, integrating systems in multi-user, multiplatform, and multitasking operating system environments.

      • Supervisory Experience – Minimum of 3 years related supervisory experience.

      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

      Knowledge and Abilities

      Knowledge of:

      • Interior and exterior routing and switching protocols, domain name system (DNS), dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP), proxy functions, security protocols, time protocols, tag and label switching, real-time protocols for voice and/or wide area network (WAN) communication protocols.

      • Virtualization and storage area network (SAN) solutions in network, security, and computing.

      • Network system analysis and design techniques for voice (wireless and wired), video, and data.

      Ability to:

      • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

      • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

      Salary: $86,500/annually
