      Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with a passion for providing top-notch IT support? The City of Chino is seeking a skilled Information Technology Specialist II to join our team! In this role, you’ll be based at the Chino Police Department, where you’ll provide hands-on user support, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, set up systems for new hires, and help ensure smooth and secure IT operations.

      This journey level position provides City staff with support for the City’s telephone system, personal computers, printers, laptops, and servers.

      Essential Functions:
      • Provide user support, system setup for new hires, and software evaluations/upgrades.
      • Ensure maximum uptime by responding promptly to issues.
      • Perform end-user training as needed.
      • Install, repair, and maintain hardware and peripherals.
      • Assist in selecting suitable software for user needs.
      • Troubleshoot and escalate software, hardware, and network issues.
      • Manage service tickets efficiently.
      • Provide on-site technical maintenance and support.
      • Communicate technical issues clearly and collaborate effectively.

      Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position. A typical example includes:

      Education:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or a related field (desired).

      Experience:
      • Two (2) or more years of experience working with both personal computer hardware, including network systems, as well as a variety of software applications.

      Knowledge/Skills:
      • Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
      • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
      • Determine methods and procedures for completing assignments.
      • Strong understanding of Windows operating systems and experience with all MS Office products.
      • Provide high quality, timely customer service via telephone and email.

      Training/Safety Requirements:
      • Job specific training will be provided according to class specification during work hours.
      • Possess a California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.

      • Receive satisfactory results from a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph, a physical examination, which includes a drug screen, and an administrative review.

      Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
      • Work in a standard office setting and use office equipment, including computers.
      • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
      • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and by phone.
      • Finger dexterity for data entry and using office equipment.
      • Occasionally bend stoop, kneel, and reach; lift, push, and pull objects up to 20 pounds.
      • Reaching: Reaching above the shoulders to place and/or retrieve objects.
      • Sitting: Ability to sit with little movement for long periods of time (usually a minimum of two or more hours per day).
