SUMMARY OF POSITION :
Under the supervision of the IT Service Desk Supervisor, works with City personnel to install, maintain, and support new and existing hardware, software, and communications.
EXAMPLES OF WORK :
Essential Duties*
Provide positive customer support and troubleshooting assistance via phone, email, remote, and in person. If in person assistance is needed, a City vehicle assigned to the department is to be utilized during normal business hours.
Deploy hardware and peripherals to City personnel.
Maintain up to date inventory of IT equipment.
Document incidents, problems, troubleshooting steps taken, comments, outcomes, and results in the City’s ticketing system and knowledgebase.
Install software and keep end user devices up to date with latest drivers, applications, and operating system software.
Administer anti-virus software and repair infected PC’s.
Setup, run, and monitor AV software and hardware for virtual meetings for various departments.
Consult with hardware and software vendors to solve operational problems.
Provide input and creative ideas to help improve IT operations and customer issues to Supervisor.
Install and troubleshoot network printers.
Analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action.
Other Important Duties*
Works on call as emergency contact for IT on a rotating basis.
May have to assist City personal outside of normal business hours with approval from Supervisor.
Supports City Council meetings on a rotating schedule.
Support City Board meetings as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Personal computer and network operations.
Good oral and written communications skills.
Software applications: Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Office and 365 applications, Apple iOS and Chrome OS.
Experience with replacing or repairing desktop and laptop PC hardware.
Ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced, and sometimes high-stress environment with an ability to multi-task, quickly adapt to frequent changes in workload, tasks, and priorities.
Ability to understand and interpret IT needs of City departments and communicate them to the IT Service Desk Supervisor.
Ability to communicate technical information to staff outside of the IT Department.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and vendors.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING :
High school graduation (or equivalent)
Minimum of five years of related experience to include supporting computers running Windows, and other Microsoft applications including Office Professional and 365 applications, Apple iOS, Chrome OS, and basic networking.
A.S. degree in related field and knowledge of phone systems preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Requires appropriate Texas driver's license.
Requires TCIC Criminal Justice Practitioner's Certificate within three (3) months of employment.
