      Infrastructure Engineer
      Knutsford


      As a Barclays Infrastructure Engineer, you will report into the Application Platforms Engineering Lead, playing a key role in building the products, services, software, APIs and infrastructure that will be central to a new strategy, ensuring a world-class product set which is simplified and provides long term sustainable business value. Being part of the Applications Platforms Engineering team within Cloud Platforms, our aim is to enhance, build, engineer and support the 'Container First' strategy within Barclays that are stable and secure.

      What will you be doing?
      • Building world class platforms for running containers on-premises and in public cloud venues
      • Designing and providing solutions for container and cloud integrations for internal clients within Global Technology Infrastructure Services (GTIS) and external Barclays teams
      • Working closely with partners to design services and how they interact with other applications in our ecosystem
      • Delivering infrastructure, platforms, software and features as part of an agile scrum team, playing a key role in retrospectives and helping early careers where needed
      • Supporting release activities, ensuring that deliverables safely reach production to deliver the highest levels of client experience
      • Developing automation software and capabilities to assist in the GTIS ‘container first’ journey
      • Being part of a highly skilled infrastructure and development team working on modern automation principles
      • Learning, testing and developing new technologies in our Engineering Lab environments


      What we’re looking for:
      • Experience configuring, using or maintaining Kubernetes (Openshift or EKS or AKS)
      • Experience in developing and coding software using Python or Golang
      • Experience with Docker, Containers and Cloud-Native utilities and software
      • Passionate about technology and the ever-changing technical landscape


      Skills that will help you in the role:
      • Experience in writing Ansible Playbooks or Chef Cookbooks
      • Foundational knowledge of Cloud technologies within AWS or Azure
      • Familiarity with complex system integrations, REST APIs, Observability, Telemetry


      Where will you be working?
      You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
