      Job Description:

      UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a professional-level Infrastructure Reliability Engineer to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT), a unit within UFIT.

      Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

      This position is within the Infrastructure Reliability Services team, which is tasked with providing observability capabilities for UFIT’s infrastructure and ensuring a high availability and reliability of campus services. Competitive candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and eager to learn with outstanding communication skills. You will work on interesting projects that span across enterprise deployments and be exposed to new technologies and tools.

      Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

      • Linux/Windows Systems Administration
      • Observability stack deployment and management
      • Scripting and automation using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, etc.

      Benefits

      Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

      Vacation accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31 when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

      Expected Salary:

      $75,000 – $80,000; commensurate based on education and experience.

      Minimum Requirements:

      Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

      • Advanced ability to automate tasks using scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell
      • Experience with infrastructure orchestration tool such as Terraform using Git for version/source control
      • Configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
      • Management of monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Grafana Stack
      • Database design using PostgreSQL and MySQL
      • Linux and/or Windows systems administration
      • Advanced knowledge of n-tier applications (browser, web, app, database)
      • Basic understanding of DNS configuration and operations
