- Using ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap to digitize and edit spatial data
- Create basic site plans or aerial maps from scratch based on customer requests
- Print aerial maps on large plotter for meetings and office use
- Incorporate markups into drawings under the direction of lead or supervisor
- Perform basic research of hardware and equipment and basic mathematical calculations
- Maintain drawing filing supplies and records; prepare drawing sets for internal and external distribution
- Assist in organizing and verifying consultant/contractors project documents
- Verify and compile the necessary documentation for engineering requests
- Gather data for engineering and related projects; analyze data and basemap drawings as assigned
- Research King County International Airport/Boeing Field projects to assemble for
- Perform general office support and maintain records for assigned work unit
- Respond to inquiries from airport staff and consultants regarding work
- GIS data collection, field work, and/or projects
- Airport applications data collection, QA/QC, and/or reporting
- Enrolled or experienced in ESRI ArcGIS Pro and other ArcGIS applications
- Basic familiarity of geospatial functions
- Skill in using software ArcGIS Pro for measuring and determining distances
- Experience using ESRI’s ArcPro and ArcMap applications
- Familiarity or experience plotting/printing map documents
- Familiarity or experience using ArcGIS online for mapping and data manipulation
- Competence in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI and SharePoint
- Familiarity with map types, google earth imagery and street addresses
- Graphical detail-oriented skills
- Oral and written communications skills
- Passionate and willing to work in a team environment
About this opportunity:
King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) is seeking an undergraduate intern entering their 3rd/junior or 4th/senior year to work in collaboration with KCIA’s Innovation Section, you will gain hands-on experience in airport infrastructure elements and applying business data in GIS applications.
The responsibilities of the Innovation GIS Intern include performing entry-level geospatial analytics with direction and guidance from the Innovation Analyst as Lead reporting to the Innovation Section Manager. Specific tasks may include GIS data gathering, QA/QC and normalizing data, data editing, digitizing, map creation, and plotting maps. The internship will help the student apply their academic skills to gain firsthand knowledge of airport layout and operations.
KCIA’s internship cohort program will provide opportunities to learn about careers in an airport environment and to be supervised and mentored by an airport professional. As part of the KCIA’s internship cohort you will have the opportunity to learn from, mentor and work with fellow KCIA interns from other areas of expertise and background. Through these experiences we aim to build a strong team that will become future airport and government leaders!

JOB DUTIES:
Who May Apply: This recruiting effort is for current college students (returning for the 2023-2024 academic year) with prior coursework from an accredited institution entering their 3rd/junior or 4th/senior year. Position is open until filled.
Work Schedule:
This is a one-year internship starting a week after the 2024 school year. Part-time/Full-time hours: 20 - 40 hours per week depending on student’s availability. This position is non-exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Schedule mandatory overtime and weekends may be required depending on the workload. (To be adjusted as needed per position)
