What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Code, analyze, and abstract inpatient electronic medical records according to established classification systems
- Enter abstracted information into the hospital financial system via a CRT
- Identify and address issues related to document quality and indexing
- Ensure timely processing of assignments in designated work queues
- Serve as a resource for code assignment issues and documentation policies

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Graduate of an AHIMA accredited HIA or HIT program with completion of basic coding courses
- AHIMA or AAPC approved credential(s) such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, CCA or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of experience in an acute care hospital
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, DRG and POA assignment, and ICD10-CM/PCS coding systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with the content of medical records for inpatient discharges
- Ability to verify documentation needed for accurate code assignment
- Proficient in computer functions in Microsoft Windows
- Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills
