What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and interpret various patient records to assign appropriate ICD-10 CM/PCS and HCPCS/CPT codes.
- Perform coding and abstracting tasks to support billing and data quality.
- Apply information from diagnostic reports to accurately code patient charts.
- Abstract pertinent data and enter all information into the computerized coding and abstracting system.
- Provide vital coded and abstracted information for final coding and billing of accounts.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Knowledge of ICD-10-PCS Inpatient Procedure Coding and CPT Coding Guidelines.
- College Diploma in Medical Coding or one year of coding experience in a healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge base of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of pathophysiology and basic pharmacology.
- Knowledge of Official Inpatient and Outpatient Coding Guidelines.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Associate or Bachelor’s Science degree in Health Information Technology.
