What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately abstract data into client electronic medical record systems following coding guidelines
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts based on designated workflows
- Communicate with physicians to clarify clinical information and improve documentation
- Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better while meeting productivity standards
- Collaborate with Clinical Documentation and Revenue Cycle teams for account reconciliation
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must possess an approved AHIMA or AAPC coding credential
- Minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting required
- Recommended minimum of 5 years of coding experience overall
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Trauma Level 1 and Academic Teaching facilities recommended
- Proficiency in ICD-10-PCS coding is required
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 2 years of auditing experience preferred
- Strong analytic and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated initiative with a strong drive for results
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
