- Req#: 964956
- Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 5 years coding experience, with emphasis on cardiovascular, neurology and other complex specialty coding.
- Certification(s): Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
- Preferred Qualifications:Education: A.S. from an accredited Health Information Technology Program or B.S. from an accredited Health Information Management program.
- Experience: Epic, 3M Solventum 360 Encompass Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:• ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding classification systems. • MS-DRGs, POAs, HACs, MCCs, CCs, etc. as applicable to the MS-DRG payment system.• Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Overview:The Inpatient Service Line Specialty Coder is responsible for reviewing and analyzing documentation present in the medical record, to assign diagnoses and procedure codes, per Mercy policies and regulatory bodies. Achieves departmental benchmarks for productivity and quality. Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines.
