      Inspection Supervisor

      PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are a growing organization seeking a talented Inspection Supervisor to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Chalmette Refinery in Chalmette, LA.

      JOB SUMMARY

      The Inspection Supervisor is responsible for providing daily work direction and administrative support for Inspection personnel. This position serves as the communication link between Inspection and Management on activities and requirements.

      PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Acts as the site’s subject matter expert for inspection of fixed equipment

      • Provides work direction and administrative support for Unit Inspection personnel at Chalmette Refinery

      • Promotes and effectively executes the Loss Prevention System (LPS) safety program and ensures all inspection activities are safety focused

      • Stewards the inspection group’s role in the equipment strategy and Risk Based Work Selection work processes

      • Engages in discussions with the business team to resolve conflicts between equipment strategies/inspection tasks and the refinery five-year business plan

      • Interacts with jurisdictional agencies and site leadership team for issues concerning regulated equipment inspection, repairs and alterations

      • Facilitates the acquisition and application of new inspection technologies and techniques, including computer aided tools

      • Responsible for driving improved effectiveness of the site’s existing inspection procedures

      • Identifies the need for and the development of new procedures, programs, and guidelines for inspection

      • Engages in the site Management of Change (MOC) process and oversees programs to ensure that the inspection mitigations and intervals are properly updated should a change occur

      • Ensures consistent application of codes and standards to all inspection activities

      • Analyzes workforce requirements with input from the Unit Inspectors and makes recommendations to the Mechanical Integrity Section Supervisor for approval

      • Communicates with other sites about learnings and incidents and participates in network activities

      • Conducts performance reviews for group personnel and facilitates personnel development

      • Conducts / participates in Inspection Systems Assessments and Unit IPRs

      • Stewards and ensures consistency of the Inspection Department’s compliance to procedures

      • Ensures consistency of data management, files, and documentation

      • Facilitates acquisition and application of new technologies and techniques

      • Develops training plans and technical development opportunities for Inspection personnel

      • Identifies the need for and development of new procedures, programs, and guidelines

      • Coordinates with Unit Inspectors and Mechanical Integrity Manager to steward Inspection budget

      • Participates in FEMI network and industry focus groups

      • Keeps abreast of updates and changing industry standards as related to Inspection activities

      JOB QUALIFICATIONS

      Requirements

      • University degree in Engineering or extensive experience in Inspection / Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE)

      • API 510/570/653 Certifications or equivalent; understanding of Industry standards, practices and initiatives

      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a refinery Lead or Senior inspection role or 10+ years of inspection experience in a similar non-supervisory role

      • Sets high standards for safety, integrity, and operational excellence

      • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong organizational skills

      • Knowledgeable in refinery material degradation mechanisms, reliability of industry equipment, and risk based inspection processes

      • Demonstrates and accepts personal accountability for quality of work

      • Uses measured risk approach and risk-value analysis methods in all business decisions

      Preferred Knowledge & Experience

      • Trained in materials, corrosion, industry construction & inspection codes, and internal inspection practices

      • Extensive experience in risk based inspection evaluations, defining operating envelopes, applying fitness-for-service (FFS) and equipment strategies

      • Implementing NDE technologies (existing or new)

      • Participation in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) and Management of Change work processes

      • Participation in circuit and industry networking

      • Inspection of fixed equipment, piping, and Cathodic Protection systems on-stream and during turnarounds

      • Leadership of inspection group or section

      • Worked on projects and turnarounds in both Inspector and Leadership roles

      • Performed vendor and construction QA/QC activities

      • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), including good PC skills (network, email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases)

      • Ability to manage a large workload and changing priorities

      • Strong understanding of risk based decision making, risk assessments, and available tools and resources
