      Position Purpose:

      Position Purpose:

      Reporting to the Supervisor Lines, this position is responsible for performing electrical and civil inspection services to ensure compliance with Alectra specifications, standards, policies, and design. The incumbent is also responsible for the coordination and direction of projects with external utilities, contractors, and internal departments to ensure project construction complies with specifications, standards, safety protocols, policies and design procedures.

      Responsibilities:

      · Provide quality assurance inspections, safety checks and provide timely and accurate “As constructed mark-up” drawings.

      · Inspect the distribution system and materials used to ensure compliance with current Alectra standards and criteria.

      · Create own “As constructed” drawings and review contractor and internal "As built" drawings to ensure compliance with Alectra standards, specifications and design.

      · Booking out material for contractors from stores as required. Responsible for completing all inspection related documentation for each project.

      · Organize conductor isolation with the Lines department for contractors working in close proximity to existing hydro plant

      · Collect plant asset data and GPS distribution facilities

      · Resolving contractor project issues and public concerns

      · Review contractor "As constructed" drawings to ensure compliance with Alectra standards, specifications and design.

      · Attend site meetings (pre-construction).

      · Meet and collaborate with contractors and various Alectra employees to discuss nature of work and deviations from designs required to meet unforeseen field conditions and make informed decisions

      · Investigate incidents/ safety infractions.

      · Perform cable locate duties as required during regular hours and on call. Conduct duties in a safe and responsible manner, while adhering to all Alectra Policies, procedures and guidelines.

      · Responsible for a working knowledge and understanding of company safety policies and procedures, utility specific work protection codes, utility work practices; will make all efforts reasonable to work in accordance with such policies and procedures; ensures all work is performed in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation, EUSR rules, company policies and procedures, Utility Work Protection Code, OHSA and safe work practices that apply to the work being performed; will adhere to the internal responsibility system; reports any unsafe conditions or observed unsafe work practices using company procedures

      Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

      Education & Specialized Knowledge

      · Successful completion of Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent

      · Post-secondary courses in civil or electrical technology is an asset

      · Successful completion of an Underground Proficiency course or equivalent

      · Electrical knowledge

      · Working knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules and Utility Work Protection Code

      · Requires working knowledge of the OHSA, O.Reg. 22/04, Alectra Construction Verification Program, and other safety-related regulations

      · Sound knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, standards and regulations


      Experience

      · Minimum of 5 years’ of related experience

      Skills/Abilities/Competencies

      · Proficient computer skills

      · Must hold and maintain a valid class G driver's license

      · Ability to interpret electrical schematics and civil drawings

      · Demonstrated ability to work from work orders, specifications, standards and instructions Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, contractors, and members of the public to achieve positive outcomes for the company

      · Demonstrated working knowledge of EUSR rules and regulations as applicable to the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems

      · Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with coworkers and members of the public to achieve positive outcomes for the company .
