Are you building a career in compliance or law enforcement and want to learn more about regulatory services? Do you feel you would be able to blend in to the social scene effortlessly in order to conduct inspections in a variety of licensed establishments? If you answered, “Yes,” we may have a position for you! The AGLC is looking for an energetic, dynamic, professional Inspector to join our Regulatory Services Division in a temporary capacity.
In this position you are expected to conduct inspections and regulatory investigations of licensed liquor/cannabis facilities during all operating hours ensuring compliance with the Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Act, Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Regulation, Part VII of the Criminal Code, and AGLC policies. This includes ensuring patrons who appear under 25 years old are being checked for ID, monitoring the responsible sale and service of liquor and cannabis, serving liquor after hours, and enforcing other regulatory policy/legislation. You will also be responsible for responding to inquiries from the public, licensees, other Government departments, and Regulatory Agencies. You will investigate complaints, non-compliance with policy/legislation, and attend Board Hearings to give evidence relating to observed violations. Providing written reports, educating licensees, and conducting training seminars are also key areas of focus for Inspectors.
To be successful in this position you must have both strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to effectively resolve conflicts, conduct investigations, and prepare written reports is integral to success in this role. Computer skills are required to prepare reports and knowledge of basic accounting will be considered an asset as well as knowledge of case management programs.
Lastly, you must be able to work varying shifts, including late nights and weekends, and some overnight travel is required. You must possess a valid non-graduated driver’s license to be eligible for this position and have dependable transportation.SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Completion of a post-secondary diploma in law enforcement/ security or a related field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in inspection, investigation or other regulatory compliance, or a minimum of five (5) years as a manager of a licensed premises.
• General knowledge of the Criminal Code, the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Regulation, and Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) policies and procedures is an asset.NOTE:
