INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT II – LONG TERM CARE AND TREATMENT Classification: Classified 190 day calendar Reports to: Long Term Care & Treatment Director FSLA Status: Non-Exempt Employee POSITION OVERVIEW This dynamic role supports students, families and their colleagues in the learning environment. Working with kids and helping them learn academically, socially and behaviorally is what we do and this role is at the heart of this work. This ever changing and rewarding work is paramount in the success of every classroom. QUALIFICATIONS At least 18 years of age. High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s Degree, two years post-secondary education, or satisfactory completion of the Paraprofessional Training or Assessment, preferred. Experience working with students in educational settings. Ability to work within a team and to work effectively with people. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to present self as an effective role model. Effectively use computer for word processing and data programs. Effectively collect, record, store and retrieve information and data. Meet requirements of fingerprint-based criminal history record verification. Ability to understand and implement the school/program student behavior management policy. Standard first aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. GENERAL INFORMATION This position has the following expectations and requisite abilities. 1. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS, OAR, IDEA, FOIA, and CIPA. 4. Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision. 5. Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation. 6. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards. 7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution. 8. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules. 9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed. 10. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds. 11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position. Individual employees may perform all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties. 1. Work with students in a residential or day treatment setting throughout the instructional day as directed by teachers and/or administrator. 2. Assist in classroom and with behavior management as directed by teachers. 3. Provide instruction, accommodations, and modifications to students as directed by teachers and/or administrator. 4. Prepare materials for instruction and student activities as directed by teachers and/or administrator. 5. Assist in maintaining accurate records of student data, as directed.
