      Job details
      Instructional designer will be part of a large curriculum development team responsible for the design and development of technical training for a maritime manufacturer. Candidate will be required to develop training materials from interviews with subject matter experts (SME) and engineering and technical documentation.
      Responsibilities
      • Apply front-end analyses including task analysis, content analysis and evaluation of learner characteristics to propose the most effective learning solutions and topical flow for each training program and audience.
      • Use sound instructional design methods to design and develop learning experiences for self-directed training, eLearning, instructor-led training (in-class and virtual) or performance support solutions that increase employees' knowledge skills and abilities.
      • Collaborate closely with project managers, training analysts, subject matter experts and content and media developers to build highly engaging and effective learning experiences.
      • Identify opportunities to supplement instructor-led training with blended learning solutions that include game-based, performance support, and eLearning.
      • Synthesize technical and complex ideas and procedures into easy-to-understand training formats for novice learners.
      • Follow a curriculum development framework to ensure consistency and quality in all deliverables.
      • Be adaptable and flexible in managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
      • Share frequent status updates with internal team members.


      Job Requirements:

      Minimum Qualifications
      • U.S. citizenship is required.
      • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Systems Design or related discipline.
      • 1-year of experience designing and developing technical training for employees in a maritime manufacturing setting.
      • Demonstrate experience storyboarding eLearning courses, writing video scripts, designing and developing instructor-led training, writing assessment questions for written and performance-based examinations, and creating performance support tools such as job aids and interactive PDFs.
      • Demonstrate experience designing and developing examinations, quizzes, knowledge checks and performance-based assessments to ensure learner mastery of the subject matter.
      • Integrate reviewer feedback into course design.
      • Use enthusiasm, drive, and creativity to apply instructional strategies to course design and development.
      • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
      • Have a working knowledge of SharePoint and in managing version control of files and documents.
      • Have a portfolio of your work ready to share.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Master's degree in Instructional Design/Instructional Technology, Education, or Adult Learning.
      • Five years of experience designing, developing, and delivering technical training programs and curricula in a manufacturing setting, including in-depth experience with eLearning.
      • Experience developing training using an AGILE approach.
      • Knowledge of US Navy submarine structural components and its systems.
      • Ability to read various technical drawings, specs, and other work package documentation.
      • Exceptional ability to earn trust of subject matter experts and stakeholders.
      • Self-starter with outstanding organization and execution of task-based skills.
      • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities and grammar skills
