      The Leadership and Professional Development Instructional Designer position requires both leadership development expertise and technical instructional design expertise. Applies ADDIE or advanced professional instructional design and technology skills to create highly complex blended learning course designs, that map learning objectives / outcomes to performance data. Builds strong partnerships with staff, faculty, senior leaders and external stakeholders to diagnose client needs. Consults with other Instructional Designers, Learning and OD consultants and Curator to propose professional development learning solutions. Uses leadership development skillset and technical expertise related to learning management systems, multimedia design, assessment systems, communications tools, streaming media platforms, and multimedia creative applications to meet unique, highly complex requirements related to online course design and development. Works on issues that impact future concepts, initiatives and technologies. Analysis of project requirements requires an evaluation of intangibles. Interacts with senior leaders on strategy and direction for function. Functions as systemwide expert on instruction design. Oversees program offerings for the university.

      The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

      Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

      The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $225,900 (Annual Rate).

      • Expert level skills in application of planning, resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.
      • Expert knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training.
      • Working knowledge of the technical tools and Sumtotal LMS platform required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
      • Strong knowledge of professional and career development strategies and understanding of how work impacts other areas in human resources and the organization.
      • Expert knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.

      • Bachelor's degree in related area and 7 years of related experience and / or equivalent experience / training.
      • Expert knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies (e.g., ADDIE), including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
      • Expert knowledge of the technical tools and platforms (eg.- Adobe creative suite,Articulate, or Captivate) required to achieve the delivery of creative, engaging and media-rich ILT and E-learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
      • Professional development and instructional design experience.
      • Expert ability to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organizational and problem-solving skills.
      • Highly developed analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication ills, collaboration and negotiation skills.
      • Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, training and delivery methodologies, organizational diagnosis, organization and business strategies.
      • Strong knowledge of career development, performance management and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful instructional design outcomes.
