      The purpose of this position is to provide course design, development, delivery, and quality revisions for Pepperdine Graziadio Business School (PGBS) faculty teaching in onground, blended, and online programs.

      The Instructional Designer engages faculty in professional development to advance thought leaders who are committed to continuous growth in innovative teaching and learning strategies. This position supports Pepperdine's strategic plan by: (a) applying eLearning standards for quality and design in courses, (b) maintaining compliance with accreditation and accessibility requirements, and (c) fostering student-centered learning.

      This is a fully-remote position. In-person participation in several on-campus events each year is expected.

      Duties

      • Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, revise, and maintain content and assessments in the LMS for on-ground, blended, and online programs. Provide consultations to faculty on the acquisition and production of course materials. Guide faculty on the use of university technologies and sound pedagogical strategies to foster high levels of student learning experiences and engagement. Review content and course materials for accessibility.
      • Develop documentation, conduct training events, and create media and other learning objects.
      • Collaborate with key stakeholders, supervisor, and departments to offer targeted training opportunities for faculty enrichment.
      • Effectively manage multiple projects, tasks, and courses by prioritizing actionables based on urgency and established deadlines. Provide timely project status reports and updates to the supervisor as requested.
      • Research, evaluate, and implement new learning tools and strategies. Review periodicals, journals, and other sources of information to keep abreast of new developments in learning technologies to meet evolving teaching and learning demands. Attend trainings and/or webinars as needed to maintain a high level of technical competence.
      • Contribute to team meetings and participate/support other community events.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Skills and Qualifications

      Required: Bachelor’s Degree.

      Degree in Learning Technologies, Instructional Design, Educational Technology-Media, Curriculum and Instruction, or closely related field, and/or commensurate training and experience.

      Ability to think critically and solve multi-faceted issues and problems that escalate in difficulty. Capable of cooperating with faculty in a highly professional and collaborative manner that encourages best efforts and assures quality.

      At least 1-2 years of experience in course design, development and delivery, use of multimedia/eLearning tools, working effectively in learning management systems, cooperating directly with faculty to improve instructional strategies and educational technology integration into coursework and assessment creation. Demonstrated project management skills.
      Solution-oriented and demonstrated ability to think critically in the approach to issues. Intermediate to advanced skill level in the effective use of Google Suite, and multimedia authoring tools. Intermediate understanding and/or working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS. Ability to conduct sound research and bring appropriate innovations and solutions to the forefront, presenting them to faculty in a positive manner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to the essential knowledge/skills, this position will demonstrate the ability to manage simultaneous projects from concept to implementation, on various high-stakes timelines.

      Familiarity with Quality Matters.

      Must be multi-platform user (MAC and PC). Must troubleshoot independently. Must continue to advance at proficiency and ability to technically support eLearning tools and software that change at a rapid rate. Intermediate user of Pepperdine supported technologies such as Zoom, Panopto, Courses (Sakai), Turnitin, project management software, and Google Suite.

      Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Learning Technologies, Instructional Design, Educational Technology-Media, Curriculum and Instruction, or closely related field.

      Solid project management skills that are demonstrated by timely task completion. Self-motivated and willing to take initiative independently. Demonstrated commitment to the highest quality in all aspects of his or her work.

      Trusted to act/communicate with utmost professionalism in both face-to-face and written formats. Highly collaborative and open to multiple perspectives.

      3-6 or more years of experience in course design, development and maintenance, use of multimedia/eLearning tools, working effectively in learning management systems, cooperating directly with faculty to improve instructional strategies and educational technology integration into coursework, assessment creation. Ultimate professional, highly collaborative. In addition to the essential knowledge/skills, this position will demonstrate the ability to manage simultaneous projects from concept to implementation, on various high-stakes timelines. This position has the advanced capability of collaborating with high-quality faculty who aspire to enrich the student experience. Requires the utmost of quality in themselves and others. Comfortable as a multi-platform user (MAC and PC). Must independently solve multi-faceted instructional technology issues. Advanced user of Google Suite, plus multimedia production tools. Intermediate to advanced user in lecture capture tools such as Panopto, Zoom, and other related programs.

      This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

      Expected Pay Range: $67,500 - $75,000

      The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
