      Position: Instructional Designer

      Department: Adult & Online Education

      Status: Full Time

      Position Summary:

      The Instructional Designer coordinates, schedules, and provides group and individual faculty and staff training sessions on BlackboardUltra and various topics related to technology instruction and provides support to faculty during the teaching of courses using these technologies. This staff member coordinates and schedules university-wide events related to faculty training and development in instructional technology and promotes sound instructional design methods and models in the design and development of courses. This position works one-on-one with faculty to support their development of synchronous, asynchronous, and in person classes. This position is not a remote position.

      The Adult & Online Education (AOE) offices are located on the main campus of Campbell University, in Buies Creek, North Carolina with additional campuses throughout the State of North Carolina. This division is part of a dynamic and rapidly growing area of the university and the Instructional Designer will be a part of a close-knit team of professionals who work together to provide academic excellence and an outstanding educational experience for our students.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Works to acquire QM-certifications to support the academic integrity of Campbell University Online.

      • Works with instructors to design courses and revise existing courses to fit best teaching practices.

      • Evaluates proposed online and blended courses based on design needs, best practices for learning, and SACS requirements for distance education.

      • Designs attractive and clear layouts, and ensures materials facilitate learning

      • Writes documentation and instructions to assist faculty developers.

      • Develops and maintains training materials for the BlackboardUltra Learning Management System and other instructional technology tools.

      • Conducts training workshops and demonstrations using a variety of delivery methods, including face to face, web- based, telephone, and video sessions.

      • Supports faculty preparation and delivery of instruction via BlackboardUltra and other software and assists with troubleshooting technical problems.

      • Collaborates as a member of the design team that evaluates and certifies proposed courses for online delivery.

      • Coordinates with Department Heads, AOE Leadership, and faculty members to develop online and mixed modality courses.

      • Conducts regular reviews to ensure quality of online instruction and adherence to the University policies.

      • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

      • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and FERPA guidelines.

      Education/Experience:

      • Earned Master’s degree or currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Instructional Design, E-learning, Instructional Coaching, Training and Development, or related field. Doctoral degree is not preferable.

      • Three (3) years’ experience in course development in an on-line environment desired.

      • Systems Administrator and BlackboardUltra Platform Training desired.

      • Experience with CRM databases desired.

      • Extensive teaching and training experience, including the development and delivery of technology-enabled instruction.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.

      • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.

      • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom, Google Suite, and other cloud-based services.

      • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials, and the public.

      • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.

      • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.

      • Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.

      • Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
