      Instructional Designer I (Central & North Campuses)

      PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary emphasis of the Instructional Designer I position is to provide support for course development, instructional training development, and faculty training focused on the application of pedagogical practices and the integration of instructional technology tools.

      Essential Job Functions:

      • Assist and support the development of courses demonstrating knowledge and experience of instructional design, development, implementation, and assessments in an academic environment; instructional technology, learning theories, universal design for learning and accessibility practices, and effective assessment of programs.
      • Assist and support the development, review, and editing of instructional training, in various formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online and computer-based instruction) for Instructional Innovation & Support identified topics.
      • Conduct training for faculty and staff on instructional technologies and other Instructional Innovation & Support identified topics.
      • Provide consultation and support for faculty and staff to incorporate instructional technology tools and open educational resources, based on an active, collaborative, and authentic instructional approach for all delivery methods (face-to-face, hybrid, distance learning).
      • Evaluate, test, and assess emerging instructional technologies, practices, and technology enhancements.
      • Attend position applicable professional development to improve knowledge and skills.

      Additional Job Functions:

      • Support faculty in the effective use of technology-mediated classrooms.
      • Participate on committees and councils as appropriate.
      • Provide feedback and recommendations for continuous improvements.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      • Ability to demonstrate the College values.
      • Knowledge in instructional design, development, implementation, and assessments in an academic environment; instructional technology, learning theories, universal design, accessibility, and effective assessment of programs.
      • Ability to effectively perform in a collaborative environment working with varied individuals and roles, in a cross-functional team.
      • Ability to write and edit instructional material and training documentation.
      • Ability to support the design, develop, and deliver interactive training of graphics, multimedia, productivity, web-based and social media applications.
      • Ability to learn innovative technologies quickly.
      • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
      • Skill in integrating technology in a wide variety of instructional situations.
      • Skill in adapting to the needs of a changing program.
      • Skill in using a variety of graphics, multimedia, productivity, web-based, and social media applications.
      • Skills with classroom applications of the internet, interactive video, and other technologically mediated instruction.
      • Knowledge of instructional pedagogy.

      Required Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, educational technology, instructional design, or related education field.

      Required Experience:

      • One years of work experience in an academic setting.

      Preferred Experience:

      • One year of work experience in course and / or training development in an academic setting.

      NOTE: This position has opportunity for limited remote work arrangements with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College.

      Salary Grade: 112
