- Develop and write objectives for learning and ensure they are aligned with business documentation and end-user business processes
- Facilitate professional development courses and activities and guides learning to align with existing curriculum
- Work with subject matter experts to develop content , prepare, and update specialized instructional materials and assessment tools to align with unit objectives and strategy
- Conduct needs assessments and evaluations to support ongoing development and improvement of learning experiences for customers
- Review and analyze course evaluation data and determine appropriate action to incorporate feedback
- Measures participant performance and progress utilizing assessment tools to align with established mission and philosophy
- Serves as a subject matter expert, point of contact, and communicates with program affiliates, audiences, and stakeholders providing information and guidance on adult learning materials and standards
- Bachelor's Degree in education, instructional design or related field OR five (5) years of related working experience
- Experience in instructional design using instructional technology to design and develop instructor-led, virtual, and on-demand learning experiences
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design in a professional work environment.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn complex business processing to design and develop learning experiences
- Effective written and oral communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated skill and experience providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Five (5) or more years of technical training course development and training
- Experience creating interactive eLearning content
- Experience with a variety of technology including e-Learning platform, like Adobe Captivate, learning management systems, and online conference technology, such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
- Basic knowledge of graphic design elements and techniques to create useful and meaningful visuals
- Planning, organization, and project management skills
- Knowledge of Workday or other ERP application fundamentals
- Experience working in the public sector or higher education

The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating training and development programs for employees within the UW System. This position will develop and deliver in-person, virtual and asynchronous learning. The specialist will collaborate with various departments to identify training needs, develop content, deliver training, and assess the effectiveness of the training programs. This role requires strong instructional design skills and excellent communication abilities.

WORK LOCATION
The office location is in Madison, WI. An in-office requirement is expected three days per week with the option to work the remaining two days off-site/remote. Telecommuting agreements are subject to change at any time.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The Instructional Designer (Official Title: Training & Organizational Development Specialist II) is a full-time, salaried (exempt), academic staff, position.
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary within a range of $68,000 - $79,500 commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
