      Job Summary

      Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law seeks a creative and motivated instructional designer to join an established team supporting the Master of Legal Studies program and other academic programs at the Law School. The successful candidate will work directly with faculty to design, develop, and innovate the Law School’s rigorous, highly interactive, asynchronous online courses. The designer will help manage course development processes, ensure accessibility, facilitate faculty onboarding, provide assistance in the learning management system and other learning technologies, and advise faculty members on the selection and best use of appropriate tools, media, and instructional technology strategies to align with course learning objectives and assessment goals.

      The chosen candidate will also work with the Graduate Studies team on projects related to academic transformation at the university, including adapting existing courses to a semester calendar and migrating materials to a new learning management system.

      The position reports directly to the Associate Dean, Graduate Studies and Online Education, but will receive day-to-day directions from the Senior Instructional Designer on staff. An ideal candidate will be creative, communicate professionally, work well on a small team, and be willing to explore learning technology solutions to enhance online programs and courses.

      Essential Functions

      • Design, develop, and update asynchronous online and hybrid courses using proven, innovative, and effective learning strategies.
      • Manage course development processes, ensuring timelines are followed and deliverables are pedagogically sound.
      • Aid faculty in scheduling/setting up lecture recordings and editing captured footage.
      • Verify accessibility of content in courses and revise materials as needed.
      • Partner with faculty to identify instructional tools and approaches to fulfill pedagogical goals and learning objectives.
      • Assist with troubleshooting instructional technology, as needed, during the teaching term.
      • Review courses utilizing industry benchmarks to ensure a high level of quality and foster a culture of constant improvement.
      • Facilitate faculty training, including onboarding, live, and asynchronously.
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Required Qualifications

      • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
      • Minimum of 1 year of relevant field experience using and implementing learning technology in a post-secondary educational environment.
      • Familiarity working within a learning management system such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, D2L Brightspace, etc.

      Additional Information
      This position is classified as Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490.00 - $71,230.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
