- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or similar field preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with delivery of professional learning and/or technical assistance on PDE Initiatives, school improvement and accountability, as well as grant-writing and proposals.
- 3-5 years teaching experience preferred.
- Experience designing or delivering adult training or professional development preferred.
- Experience with innovation, instructional design, educational leadership, or related field preferred.

- Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum initiatives across Science, Math, Social Studies, English Language Arts (ELA), and speial areas as dictated by current and emerging PDE initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of curriculum materials to Pennsylvania Standards across a wide variety of standard areas.
- Provide feedback and support related to curriculum and high quality instructional materials to CCIU and Chester County schools, and across the Commonwealth to enhance student learning.
- Collaborate on the implementation of educational reform initiatives aimed at increasing student achievement, including support for programs like PDE initiatives, English Learner services, and pilot programs.
- Work closely with the Instructional Initiatives Coordinator and other team members to coordinate and manage various educational initiatives, ensuring effective execution of projects
- and remaining responsibilities as per job description

- Instuctional Initiatives Specialist October 2024.pdf At the present time, a vacancy exists for an Instructional Initiatives Specialist (Professional Learning Specialist) within the Innovative Educational Services division of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position will be located at the Educational Service Center in Downingtown, PA.

Summary of Position:
The Instructional Initiatives Specialist (Professional Learning Specialist) within IES is a key member of the Professional Learning team dedicated to supporting comprehensive curriculum audits and reviews for schools and districts; as well as providing actionable insights to drive continuous improvement. The position requires a thorough understanding of curriculum development and instructional design, with an emphasis on integrating research-based strategies to improve student achievement.
The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Instructional Initiatives Coordinator and others across Teaching and Learning, contributing to the successful implementation of instructional initiatives, curriculum programs and emerging initiatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Through a commitment to fostering innovation and educational excellence, the Instructional Initiatives Specialist (Professional Learning Specialist) will play a pivotal role in supporting schools as they navigate and implement cutting-edge curriculum, instructional, and assessment practices.
