Position Overview
The Clowes Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN invites applications for a two-year instructor beginning August 15, 2024, with the opportunity for renewal and appointment to lecturer status. We seek a colleague who is committed to undergraduate teaching and who can work both independently and collaboratively to design inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student population. Ideal candidates will be equipped with strategies for effective teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students with a variety of backgrounds, identities, and experiences, including those historically marginalized in the sciences. Teaching responsibilities associated with this nine-month contract will include classroom and laboratory instruction (15 contact hours per week) that introduces both science and non-science majors to the field of chemistry.
A Ph.D. in any subdiscipline of chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical education is required, but those with ABD status will be considered.
