      The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training.


      The Opportunity


      Reporting to the Academic Chair, Life Sciences Portfolio, the Instructor will be responsible for instruction in classroom, lab and clinical settings. The schedule will be provided for the entire academic year. You are a Registered Respiratory Therapist interested in a rewarding career in education.

      The Role
      • Provide high-quality education to students in the classroom, lab and practicum settings
      • Facilitate learning with electronic media
      • Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum
      • Facilitate accreditation requirements
      • Participate in Program Reviews and implement recommendations in a timely fashion
      • Promote and support SAIT’s and Health and Public Safety’s goals and mission statements
      • Prepare additional study and lab materials, and set up and take down labs
      • Assist in evaluating, organizing and maintaining program spaces, equipment, supplies, and learning material
      • Set and maintain clear expectations for learners
      • Evaluate student progress and achievement
      • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
      • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
      • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students


      Qualifications & Experience
      • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA). Membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) is beneficial
      • Degree in education or health sciences or related field would be considered an asset
      • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ work experience in a variety of clinical areas
      • Previous teaching experience an asset


      Skills & Knowledge
      • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others
      • Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
      • Possess a positive, respectful attitude, and a high commitment to student success and collaboration
      • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
      • Demonstrated computer skills are essential. Basic level proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

      Salary range: $90,588 - $103,320

      Position End Date: April 30, 2026
