      What role you will play in our team

      Instrumentation Maintenance First Line Supervisor (based at Strathcona Refinery in Edmonton AB) is responsible for directing or over-seeing work done by others in maintaining company facilities, own and manage the relationship /contract with the Maintenance & Reliability and construction providers, focusing on delivery of objectives and plans within agreed performance parameters, driving continuous improvement, and career development of their direct reports. Supervises maintenance teams to help Operations deliver safe, reliable and profitable operations.

      What you will do

      • Accountable for all maintenance activities performed within their area of responsibility as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent or Field Superintendent.
      • Creates high performing team: stewards employee development; coaches, mentors and supervises direct reports.
      • Ensures that all employees and contractors meet applicable personnel and process safety, security, health, and environment requirements.
      • Demonstrates good leadership skills in holding employees and/or contractors accountable for their field safety and execution performance (scope compliance, cost, quality, efficiencies, etc.). Ensures the maintenance superintendent and field superintendent are informed of major issues and safety concerns.
      • Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable Imperial Oil management systems.
      • Effectively manages maintenance strategies, planning, scheduling and execution to ensure safety, reliability and integrity.
      • Responsible for ensuring best practices, M&R expectations, permitting process are followed.
      • A leading proponent of the Job Safety Analysis process and ensures all maintenance activities are conducted in a safe and effective manner by all maintenance technicians, employee and contract.
      • Ensures good communication across all facilities, so maintenance issues can be adequately addressed, and actions completed.
      • Participate in Risk Based Work Selection to ensure the safest and most effective use of maintenance resources.
      • Works actively to remove barriers to help ensure maintenance / project / turn-around work activities meet cost and time delivery goals.
      • Where applicable, collaborate with Planners/Schedulers and/or outside service providers to develop resource plan, verify and endorse OSP cost estimates.

      About you

      Skills and Qualifications

      • Instrumentation Technologist Diploma.
      • Red Seal Journeyman Instrumentation and Control Technician is considered an asset.

      Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

      • Valid Alberta graduated Class 5 driver’s license is required.
      • 5 years of experience in petrochemical industry.
      • Strong safety and work ethic, sound reasoning ability, good communication and interpersonal skills, high level of self-initiative, comfortable working within a team environment.
      • Basic computer literacy.
      • Supervisory experience considered an asset.
      • Demonstrated ability to build good, respectful working relationship in a team environment.
