- Six weeks (30 days) of paid annual leave per year + additional paid Christmas stand down

- Proactively plan, collect, collate and analyse information to produce and disseminate intelligence;
- Work collaboratively within the immediate team environment, as well as with other AFP members and partner agencies;
- Collect, triage and assess information of intelligence value during police operations;
- Provide written and oral intelligence briefs to intelligence consumers;
- Record information and intelligence appropriately;
- Identify and interpret information and data obtained in an ethical manner, which is then used to inform assessments and reach conclusions to meet a specified user requirement; and
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of the intelligence environment and relevant Commonwealth legislation.
- Be part of a team of intelligence professionals who support complex criminal investigations and AFP corporate objectives;
- Apply contemporary analytical tools and techniques to produce actionable intelligence which influences decision making at all levels;
- Demonstrate they can perform in a cooperative and collaborative environment; one that is responsive and flexible in meeting the team’s objectives; and
- Communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders to achieve intelligence and operational outcomes.
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Contemporary experience in an intelligence role, or a sound understanding of the role of intelligence in law enforcement.
- Ability to assess, evaluate and analyse information to develop arguments using logic and evidence.
- Ability to produce succinct and accurate intelligence products with high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated awareness or experience working in cybercrime.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage, cooperate and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Resilience and the ability to adjust to constructive feedback from peers and supervisors.

AFP Intelligence Operations is seeking individuals who are self-directed and have the flexibility and resilience to thrive in a dynamic and at times high tempo working environment. If you are passionate about intelligence analysis and want to make a real difference to Australia’s national security and criminal environment, we want your application! This role is based at Western Command, located in our Perth Headquarters. Successful Applicants will be required to relocate to Perth.
Intelligence Operations is integral to AFP criminal investigations in Australia and abroad. Intelligence Officers work within intelligence teams in partnership with investigators to achieve tangible outcomes against Australian and international criminal threats. Using critical thinking and analytical skills, Intelligence Officers mitigate these threats and contribute the consolidated picture of transnational serious organised crime and national security threats, identifying priorities, and informing decision making.
As a Team Member in the AFP you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.* This role attracts a composite allowance in recognition of expanded working hours, normal patterns of attendance and shift patterns (such as afternoon shifts, weekends and Designated Public Holidays) that are required under the Operations working pattern. In accordance with the AFP Enterprise Agreement 2017-2020, an employee who is required to work in accordance with the Operations working pattern will receive a Core Composite of 22% in addition to their Base Salary which will count as salary for superannuation. The Commissioner has the authority to remove a composite from a role.
