The Inter-Greek Council (IGC) Coordinator, under direction of Campus Life Director will work within the department to focus specifically on supporting members of fraternities and sororities. The coordinator will collaborate with Greek Life chapters, campus organizations, student services to create an environment that fosters a sense of belonging, celebrates and enhances the overall Greek life experience. The coordinator provides service in the areas of recruitment, leadership, and service training to broaden and strengthen program goals. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate, including evenings and/or weekends. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
40% Serve as a coordinator for Inter-Greek Council (IGC) as the primary coordinator for one of the governing councils and their executive boards with the primary focus on increasing IGC organizations on campus, recruitment, organization, engagement and expansion of existing and new social Greek letter organizations. Plans, implements, examines, and provides initiatives for students in accordance with council’s bylaws with a focus on supporting all members of fraternities and sororities and enhance the overall Greek experience for all students. Overseeing new member recruitment and onboarding procedures, policies and goals. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the fraternity community constituents including the national headquarters staff, local advisory leadership, alumni, chapter advisors and parents to advance the mission and values of the Fraternity community. Enhance and develop the fraternity community with educational programming, increase engagement and connections in IGC and student experiences, and initiatives. Assist the Director in planning specifically for IGC members in organizing, execution of programs, events and activities.
20% Collaborate with campus departments to provide educational opportunities for Greek life members on topics such as allyship. Advise the FSL Officers in the education, marketing, and communication efforts of the FSL community and assist with program planning, mentorship and implementation of community wide events, increase attendance in Athletic engagement, Leadership programs, Greek Week, Hazing Prevention Week, Giving Day, High-Impact Initiatives, Homecoming Parade Organizer, and others.
20% Aid with daily operation, execution and administration of Campus Life pertaining to but not limited to Greek Life including area goals, objectives and assessment, membership management, marketing, and communication. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with fraternity and sorority community constituents including inter/national headquarters staff, local advisory leadership, alumni, chapter advisors and parents to advance the mission and values of the FSL community.
10% Assist the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life with the development and facilitation of leadership retreats and officer transition programs for the fraternity community.
10% Build a positive rapport with students, staff, and faculty by maintaining availability, visibility, and a genuine, concerned attitude. And fulfill other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in applicable field
· Three years of related experience in coordinating events
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficiency in social media, strong written and verbal communication skills, effective time management including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to action plans, ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Master’s degree in related field and one year of related experience in coordinating events
· Experience in student affairs work, advising college fraternity and sorority student organizations
· Experience conducting workshops and training sessions for college students
· Experience building partnerships with campus constituents and collaborating across departments in a university setting
· Membership in a national fraternity or sorority,
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Demonstrated effectiveness working with student populations
· Knowledge of risk management as it pertains to event planning, ability to work effectively in crisis management situations
· Knowledge of student development theory and retention programs
· Ability to interpret university policies and procedures.
Salary
Commensurate with experience
The target base annual salary is $ 4 3,620 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
