Help teams improve user experiences by applying a people-centered approach, uncovering opportunities to enhance users’ lives
Collaborate with senior designers to develop solutions to real user problems, leveraging data, design thinking, and agile methodologies
Create and iterate on prototypes (using tools like HTML and Figma) based on data, evidence, and team collaboration
Emphasise accessibility and inclusion in interaction design, ensuring products meet the needs of a diverse user base
Advocate for the value of design activities, utilising the FCA design system and contributing to the organization’s design maturity
Actively participate in the FCA service and interaction design community, driving initiatives to strengthen the profession
Help FCA products and services meet the needs of people in firms, consumers and FCA staff alike
Deliver impactful work in programmes that help protect the integrity of the UK financial system and minimise harm to consumers of financial services
Benefit from a vibrant and positive community of practice making a difference to the maturity of user-centredness
Experience working as an interaction designer within any of the following types of organisations or sectors: financial services, government/regulatory body, technology, consultancy (ideally IT consultancy)
Experience working as an interaction designer in a project/programme environment involving digital transformation and business changes
An understanding of interaction design best practice, and how to design interfaces in a straightforward and accessible way
An understanding of user-centred design ways of working and how interaction design integrates with other roles to achieve successful outcomes
The ability to use quantitative and qualitative data about users to inform interaction design decisions
An understanding of different prototyping techniques, from paper sketches to HTML prototypes, and when to use them
The ability to identify key stakeholders and understand their needs, and the importance of managing relationships with them

Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £41,800 to £56,000 and London £46,000 to £62,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

This role is part of the Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) Division which is leading the FCA in harnessing the power of data and advanced analytics to transform financial regulation.
Within DTI, the User Centred Design (UCD) Team is part of a wider Digital Delivery Hub, bringing product, development and design delivery to the heart of key FCA projects.
What will you be doing?
As an Interaction Designer at the FCA you will work within a specialist user-centred design (UCD) team to help increase the maturity of UCD across the organisation. You will provide expert interaction design delivery to emerging multi-disciplinary digital product teams, on both new and existing services.
