      Role Overview

      As an Interior Designer, you manage and facilitate the design process for new development, acquisitions, renovations, and special projects of our multimillion dollar, multifamily apartment home communities.

      Be Visionary

      • Propose and design residential unit and amenity space reconfigurations on renovation design projects to improve space plan
      • Develop detailed 3D models of interior spaces using Revit software
      • Create and manage families, templates, and project files specific to interior design projects
      • Produce and manage the execution of Design Proposals and Interior Design Construction documents
      • Ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications, standards, and client requirements
      • Review and verify design intent through shop drawing and submittal reviews
      • Design model units, which includes selecting furniture, managing the budget, assisting with delivery and installation, and creating Care Binders
      • Work with the Investments, Cortland Build, and Architecture teams as well as vendors to ensure design intent is cohesive throughout the exterior and interior
      • Oversee FF&E design, budget, contracts, tracking, and installation
      • Collaborate with landscape architects on design direction throughout the site; approve all finish selections

      Be Innovative

      • Stay current with the latest Revit developments, BIM trends, and industry best practices.
      • Continuously seek ways to improve workflows, efficiency, and quality.
      • Oversee project design direction and create project design narratives
      • Work with the Marketing team to develop project-specific signage and wayfinding
      • Work on building departmental design guidelines, developing interior design drawing standards, millwork details, and general specifications
      • Collaborate with the pool designer to manage design direction; select finish materials
      • Develop a comprehensive and cohesive design direction for the project’s fitness center; review fitness equipment plans for desirable layouts

      Be Organized

      • Work with Cortland Build and the Architecture team to develop comprehensive construction documents
      • Coordinate and review design documents; generate design directions for unit and amenity interiors at varying scope levels
      • Work with the Preconstruction team regarding cost and direction; manage design direction and budget
      • Develop and manage materials/family libraries within Revit
      • Maintain and update project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
      • Leverage your knowledge of design tools (Revit, Bluebeam, hand-drawings) to add efficiency, accuracy and collaborative effectiveness across projects and project teams
      • Work with departmental QA-QC Team towards systematic production of high-quality documents
      • Develop a schedule with reasonable delivery dates for both construction and furniture installation
      • Follow up on budgets and progressive pricing to see how they are developed and managed throughout the project to meet the overall budget

      Qualifications

      • Stellar 3+ years of professional design work, ideally in multifamily residential or hospitality environments
      • Strong 3+ years of experience with Revit software
      • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Decorative Arts, or related field
      • Extensive portfolio, ongoing relationships with suppliers, vendors
      • Well-versed in units of measurement; able to clearly communicate site-specific dimensions
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Highly effective collaborator
      • Effective project management abilities
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Revit, Illustrator, and Bluebeam; ability to hand sketch
      • Ability to travel as required (up to 50%)
