      Job Summary

      Dominion is looking for a Biologist Intern for the summer of 2024 that will work beside experienced mentors as they assist with varied and interesting tasks. Examples of these tasks will include biological field work and sample collection.

      Duties include routine biological and ecological support through the collection, analysis, and reporting of scientific data. Participates in investigations, surveys, and planning for evaluation of company-related activities that may impact the environment. Prepares and calibrates lab and field equipment for routine tests. Collects and records environmental data from instruments. Assists with measuring physicochemical parameters, such as water temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen. Performs data entry and assists with basic statistical analysis. Collects and identifies aquatic organisms through taxonomic keys and other references. Ensures proper care, maintenance and use of all sampling and other equipment.

      Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

      Overnight travel (multi day)- occasional; (mostly day trips)

      VA boating certification is preferred

      Valid Driver’s license

      Currently enrolled in 4-year university majoring in Biological, Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Sciences, Fisheries Sciences or related

      Education Requirements

      Currently enrolled in 4-year university majoring in Biological, Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Sciences, Fisheries Sciences or related.

      Must be graduating May 2026 or later.
