      Carrier Sales Manager

      SUMMARY OF POSITION:

      This is a full-time Internship position based out of the corporate office of Bay & Bay Transportation, located in Eagan, MN. As a Carrier Sales Associate Intern you will work with trucking company owners, dispatchers and drivers (known as carriers) to assist in coordinating customer shipments: it’s all about finding the right truck for the right shipment at the right time for the right price. You will learn how to develop carrier relationships and negotiate competitive carrier rates. This role combines sales & supply chain planning by ensuring that freight is picked up, transported, and delivered on time.

      COMPENSATION:

      • This is a Full-Time hourly position ($16.00/Hour)
      • Monday - Friday

      POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

      • Learn about transportation management software and systems
      • Gain hands-on experience in the logistics industry
      • Develop essential skills, such as communication, negotiations and problem solving
      • Assist with booking loads and managing shipments
      • Negotiating with carriers on cost of transportation
      • Tracking and monitoring freight movement
      • Provide Customer Service to shippers and carriers
      • Problem resolution as issues arise
      • Researching and identifying potential carriers
      • Building and maintaining relationships with existing carriers
      • Assist with carrier onboarding and compliance

      DAILY TASK EXAMPLES:

      • Answering phones and responding to carrier inquiries
      • Follow up on load and ensure timely deliveries
      • Assist with preparing carriers for loads
      • Collaborating with shippers, carriers and dispatchers
      • Keeping accurate records of relevant activities
      • Updating customer service on the status of shipments
      • Assist fellow team members as needed.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:

      • Enrolled in a College degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or equivalent work experience.
      • Competitive attitude & innovative nature.
