      PURPOSE:

      Jump start a career in the field of banking! Internships at BankFive offer hands-on experience and an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of banking. The internship experience includes a 10-12 week placement within a specific business area within the bank which provides insight into the business areas various processes and how they support the bank’s overall business. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced bankers who can offer insights to help you better understand the financial services industry. BankFive is a full-service community bank offering personal banking, business banking and wealth management services with 15 branches throughout the Southcoast.

      LOGISTICS:

      • The internship will take place at BankFive’s main office at 79 North Main Street, Fall River Massachusetts
      • Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week (37.5 hours in the summer)
      • Summer, fall and spring internships are offered
      • Internships are offered in Commercial Banking, Residential Lending, Audit, Marketing, MIS, Finance and Business Analytics

      Application Process

      • The cover letter should clearly state your business area preference, why the applicant wants to intern at the Bank, the semester of interest, approximate date on which he, she or they would be available to begin work if selected, and why he, she or they would be a good fit for the position.
      • Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Invitations of interviews will be sent on a rolling basis.

      Position Description :

      The primary responsibilities will vary depending on the business area that the intern is assigned too. In general all interns will be expected to:

      • Participate in the development of department policies and/or procedures and assist with specific projects as assigned.
      • Actively develop and demonstrate self-awareness, agility, collaboration, creative problem solving, empathy, innovation, critical thinking, communication, intercultural, resilience and leadership skills.
      • Participate in, contribute to and complete project work and additional assignments that deliver significant impact and improvements.
      • Engage fully in each internal business area including learning and performing key jobs and tasks. Create exceptional internal and external customer experiences in all interactions.
      • Participate in meetings, trainings and mentoring/coaching opportunities.
      • Identify opportunities for bank improvement, foster teamwork, and build strong relationships with other BankFive employees.
      • Develop the ability to deal with others in a straightforward, honest manner, is accountable for actions, maintains confidentiality, supports company values, and conveys news good or bad.
      • Adhere to and comply with the applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to Anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.)
      • Adhere to Bank policies and procedures
      • Complete required training

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      Applicants must:

      • Be seeking a degree at an accredited college/university
      • Have at least a cumulative (overall) 3.0 GPA
      • Have completed one full academic years toward the degree
      • Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse internal and external customers.
      • Be highly organized, able to meet deadlines, and changing priorities with an aptitude for problem solving and decision making within scope of authority.
      • Be proficient in Microsoft Office products. Must have technical aptitude to learn bank’s proprietary systems.
      • Excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills.

      Work Environment and Effort:

      • Office environment
      • Significant level of mental concentration to manage multiple complex tasks and changing priorities.
      • Work requires continuous visual effort with hand/eye coordination for extended periods of time.
      • Work requires use of headset while answering and conversing with customers on the telephone.
      • Will be sitting while performing computer data entry functions.
      • Requires occasional lifting/ carrying equipment/ boxes of up to 30 pounds within work area.
