      Description

      We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about our company by assisting in our Financial Services department. The intern works closely with our team to collect, interpret and report on various financial, actuarial and operational data to ensure the accuracy of reports and queries and to provide a data-driven foundation for decision-making. This individual works with accountants, actuaries and other business users to look for patterns and trends in financial data, to research and resolve data discrepancies and to provide recommendations for process improvements.


      Term:
      Summer 2024, approximately 10 weeks, flexible schedule but must be available to work up to 25 hours per week.

      What You'll Do:
      • Learn insurance industry terminology, concepts, and processes.
      • Perform data processing, cleaning, and validation for modeling, leading to actionable insights.
      • Accept designated, business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.
      • Gain direct experience in conducting business analysis as well as the opportunity to present analysis.
      • Assist in creating monthly/quarterly reports on key financial metrics and business trends.
      • Learn how to perform ad hoc analytical support.
      • Provide suggestions to management for improving internal processes.
      • Learn and become proficient on internal software systems.
      • Fulfill tasks set out by supervisor in a timely manner.
      • Build a lasting professional network throughout the program.
      • Final project capstone presentation may be required.

      Qualifications


      Education and Experience:
      • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Accounting, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, or Insurance. Junior or senior level preferred.
      • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret and create financial models.
      • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
      • Intermediate proficiency in excel, SQL, and/ or Business Intelligence Tools (i.e. Power BI) preferred.
      • Past experience in a professional setting preferred.
