We are looking to fill and internship role at our Redmond, WA site. The intern will perform Systems Engineering assignments with a focus on requirements development, requirements management, and verification using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques. The position requires application of basic principles, theories, and concepts of Systems Engineering for aerospace system development.
Summer internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.

In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems. Our electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires.
60% - Assists with the development of requirements for rocket propulsion products. Assists in the derivation, allocation, and documentation of requirements using MBSE best practices. Documents requirement changes and coordinates the communication of changes to Integrated Product Team members. Assists with defining and coordinating requirements verification plans with integrated product team members. Following established procedures, coordinates plans and compliance assessment and certification.
15% - Performs functional analysis and coordinates system trade studies. Documents system architecture decisions using SysML. Assists in the selection of optimized concept baselines through benefit/cost trades in support of definition of system architecture and objectives.
15% - Assists in performing project risk and opportunity assessments and development of handling strategies.
10% - Communicates summer internship results in oral presentations or written communication.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in a B.S. degree program in Aerospace or Systems Engineering (or similar major) OR enrolled in an advanced degree program in related major, and returning to school upon completion of the assignment.
Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
3.4 GPA or above
Completed Junior year of study
Solid academic track record of accomplishment
Systems Engineering coursework or experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering, SysML, and multi-disciplinary optimization
Rocket Propulsion coursework
Leadership & teamwork skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
