The Internal Auditor III performs complex to highly complex internal auditing work. Work is performed under general to limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Perform internal audits that are complex-to-highly complex in nature or medium to large in scale to determine compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Manage audit projects which includes development of audit scopes, objectives, procedures and deliverables; resource and budget tracking; ensuring milestones are met; and providing deliverables to areas under review.
- Examine and analyze management operations, internal control structures and systems, information technology databases and systems, and accounting records, reviewing for reliability, adequacy, accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with legal regulations; and reports erroneous or questionable transactions.
- Conduct research related to the audit, advisory services, or other engagements
- Prepare working papers to document the results of the work performed, including interviews, data analysis, and other documentation.
- Review and document applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and financial and administrative controls for the development of audit procedures.
- Prepare audit reports identifying project conclusions, findings, discrepancies, and recommends corrective actions
- Perform other duties as assigned.YOU QUALIFY WITH:
-Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field, plus two years of full-time experience in in similar areas of business. Audit related certifications, including CPA, CIA, CISA, or others are preferred.YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
Working Knowledge of:
-Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards and Global Internal Audit Standards
-Auditing in the Texas government environment
-Business, financial, non-financial processes, and/or automated systems
-Generally accepted accounting principles, accounting methods, and accounting systems
-Information technology principles, terminology, analytics, and/or queriesSkill in:
-Microsoft Office 365 software
-TeamMate+ audit management software
-Sampling techniques
-Working in a professional manner
-Project management
-Strong, clear, and concise verbal and written communication
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Building productive and collaborative relationships in the work environment.
-Efficient time managementAbility to:
-Compose clear and concise audit documentation and reports
Identify and analyze appropriate risks and controls in an audit level risk assessment
-Gather, understand, and analyze accurate and relevant data and information
-Create clear and comprehensive process maps
-Evaluate documents for accuracy and conformance to appropriate criteria
-Perform root cause analysis
-Quantify and contextualize results
-Conduct effective interviews and meetings
-Work independently and/or in a team environment
-Manage time and priorities effectively
-Be adaptive to changing audit focus
-Communicate effectively
