- Content Expertise. Obtains, develops and uses specialized knowledge in designated marketing or communications area, as well as maintains a thorough working knowledge of other marketing and communications areas and large initiatives. Provides appropriate expertise to discussions, projects and initiatives.
- Project Management. Participates on area-specific and multi-disciplinary marketing and communications project teams. May co-lead small projects of a tactical nature. Monitors content and timelines; works to ensure deadlines and needs are met using collaborative practices.
- Product/Service Development. Produces products and services that are tailored to the specific needs of the situation, using expertise to align with overall organizational goals/objectives. May focus on process improvement and identifying solutions. May serve as primary contact for some vendors. Uses available data and resources to proactively determine trends.
- Consulting. Participates in consulting processes during interactions with employees and managers. May anticipate needs and use the consulting process to develop collaborative solutions, evaluation outcomes and take corrective actions, if necessary.
- Business Management. Develops, maintains and nurtures working relationships with leaders, colleagues and external customers/vendors. Generates alliances that promote effective relationships and outcomes.
- Culture/Change Agents. Supports culture and change management.

This position has the ability to work a combination of in office and remotely.
Candidates residing in the following states can be considered for remote work: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia.
Supports Carilion's Internal Communication team. Duties include drafting articles, communication plans, talking points and other written materials. Maintains news page on organizational intranet. Assembles organizational newsletters. Supports internal events and functions. Assist with issues management/crisis communications, executive communications as needed. As an On-Call Communications Duty Officer, supports after-hours as needed. (This is a rotating assignment with 7 other team members. Each Duty Officer takes one week of on-call and one week of back-up call every 8 weeks.) Provides general, organizational wide support for communications functions. Maintains knowledge of all communications areas and activities, while specializing in knowledge of one or two specific functions. This position works under limited supervision and may look to other communications colleagues for help in answering questions and completing tasks/projects. Will use discretion and/or good judgement in unstructured situations.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelor's degree or 8 years equivalent experience.
Experience: One year of general communications- or marketing-related experience required. Experience within specialized area strongly preferred. Completion of a Master’s degree in a related field with demonstrated relevant experience may substitute for experience requirement.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must possess excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking and interpersonal skills. Must work well in a team environment and have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Lawson knowledge preferred. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to work on multiple tasks/projects while meeting deadlines and being flexible in an environment of changing priorities.About Carilion
