      Responsibilities

      Our Internal Medicine Resident is a physician undergoing a three-year residency program that trains them in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases affecting adults. They work under the supervision of experienced physicians, gradually taking on more responsibility as their skills and knowledge develop. Residents are involved in patient care, teaching, and research, ultimately preparing them for a career in general internal medicine or a subspecialty.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Patient Care: Residents are involved in all aspects of patient care, including history taking, physical examinations, developing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing patient education.
      • Supervision and Education: Residents work under the supervision of attending physicians, gradually taking on more responsibility as they gain experience and competence. They may also be involved in teaching medical students and other residents.
      • Clinical Skills: Residents learn a wide range of clinical skills, including diagnostic skills, procedural skills, and communication skills.
      • Research and Scholarship: Residents are encouraged to participate in research projects and scholarly activities.
      • Communication and Collaboration: Residents must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. They also work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care.
      • Systems-Based Practice: Residents need to understand and function effectively within the healthcare system, including coordinating care, advocating for quality care, and participating in quality improvement projects.
      • Continuing Education: Residents are expected to participate in continuing medical education to stay abreast of the latest advances in internal medicine.

      Qualifications

      Temporary Missouri & Kansas medical license required*Must have been matched prior to the employment application process.
