Job Description

- Performs highly responsible, sensitive, and confidential investigations of facility employees, community agency staff and others in responding to Hotline calls pertaining to allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, death or serious injuries in a state operated facility and community agency.
- Reviews and assesses intakes received during working and non-working hours.
- Prepares written report upon completion of call and assessment process consisting of summary of actions to be taken, findings, preservation of evidence and recommendation of service plan referral and/or case closure.
- Independently directs the gathering of relevant facts and statements by agency and facility staff regarding abuse, neglect, and allegations in a domestic setting.
- Recommends revisions to hotline intake procedures and practices.
- Assists staff with site visits.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college, with coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history or business or public administration, plus four (4) years professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field OR requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with major coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history or business or public administration, plus two (2) years professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field OR requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of a master's degree, with major course work in law, government, liberal arts, history or business or public administration plus one (1) year professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field OR requires completion of the F.B.I. National Academy or comparable law enforcement schooling, plus two (2) years of professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work or a related field.
- Two (2) years of professional experience recognizing and gathering appropriate statements, exhibits and materials acceptable for use in prosecution of cases or disciplinary action.
- Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing modern investigative interview techniques and concepts.
- Two (2) years of professional experience preparing reports summarizing information from interviews and evidence gathering.
- Two (2) years of professional experience maintaining security during investigatory activities.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with statutes, rules and regulations concerning misconduct.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with the functions and interrelationships of government agencies.

Position Overview
The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire an Internal Security Investigator II at the Bureau of Hotline and Intake Center located in Springfield, Illinois. Under administrative direction of the Public Service Administrator, Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Inspector General, the incumbent performs highly responsible, sensitive and confidential investigations of facility employees, community agency staff and others in responding to Hotline calls pertaining to allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, death or serious injuries in a state operated facility and community agency.
