      Environmental Education & Research Intern

      The Greening Youth Foundation (GYF) is a youth serving nonprofit organization in the United States focused on conservation and environmental sector careers for diverse, underrepresented young people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

      In collaboration with Growald Climate Fund, the Greening Youth Foundation's International Climate Fellowship is a 6-monh virtual fellowship program for recent HBCU graduates and early career professionals. Greening Youth Foundation will work to recruit, place, and train fellows to work at environmental sector partner sites.

      Fellowship Program Goals and Objectives:
      • Increase diversity in environmental organizations.
      • Increase the number of recent graduates with international experiences.
      • Develop and strengthen resources for young adults transitioning from universities into the workforce.

By advancing critical research, providing eco-conscious education for all, and activating communities, we equip people with the skills they need to make a difference.

      About the Role:
      The Fellow will learn from and support the Leave No Trace Education Team on various projects including researching and developing educational materials and resources around Leave No Trace in Daily Life, updating educational resources for Leave No Trace for Every Kid, and assisting with the creation of additional courses for Leave No Trace's eLearning platform. The fellow will report to the Education and Program Manager.

      Responsibilities:
      • Support Leave No Trace Education Team on various short and long term projects
      • Research and synthesize information around Leave No Trace in Daily Life to create new educational resources focused on sustainability
      • Collaborate with Education Team to create new course content for Leave No Trace's eLearning platform including a course in partnership with the Forest Service's Urban Connections program
      • Update various existing educational resources to be sure they are current including resources for our youth education initiative, Leave No Trace for Every Kid
      • Attend regular Education Team meetings
      • Depending on the experience and interests of the fellows, there could also be more independent research and analysis projects available or eLearning and educational resource creation opportunities related to curriculum, Leave No Trace messaging and communications, and/or the intersection of Leave No Trace and climate change

      Qualifications:
      • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate degree program and/or demonstrated interest in environmental education, conservation, natural resource management, and/or outdoor recreation.
      • Ability to work independently and also collaboratively
      • Strong writing skills, particularly, the ability to synthesize and summarize large amounts of information into clear and concise written pieces.
      • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail oriented. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
      • Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work independently when projects are due.
      • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
      • Preferred prior experience with: ¿ Remote professional settings ¿ Office Suite and Google Docs ¿ Digital filing systems such as Dropbox, Box, or Google Drive ¿ Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Thinkific, etc. and/or eLearning platforms ¿ Wordpress or similar content management systems
      Hours:
      Full-time; 40 hours a week during the workday in Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern time zones

      Term:
      Summer and Fall 2024 (July - December)

      Required:
      *Applicants must be U.S. citizens and reside within the United States to be eligible for this position.

      Compensation: $3500 per month
