- Train local “citizen journalists in Syria on selected topics (e.g., conflict-sensitive journalism, trauma-informed journalism, digital safety) in at least 2 different regions in Syria
- Coach the trained “citizen journalists” in the production of articles and reports about civil society engagement at the community level
- Responsible for training participants (citizen journalists)
- Coaching trained “citizen journalists”
- Oversee and support the publication of 50 articles/radio spots;
- Lead presentation of key findings from the study to relevant stakeholders;
- Lead the finalization of the study and submission to GIZ. '
- A Master’s degree (or higher) in Journalism, Social Sciences, and/or another relevant field;
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the field of journalism or any other relevant media related field;
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in journalist training;
- At least 5 years of experience working in the MENA region;
- At least 3 years of experience with Development Cooperation;
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders, and team members;
- Professional fluency in Arabic (both spoken and written) required;
- Professional fluency in English (both spoken and written) required.
- This position reports to the Director of Program Management.
International Short-Term Expert – Syria Citizen JournalismDemocracy International (DI) is seeking to hire International Short-Term Experts – Syria Citizen Journalism for an anticipated 12-month Training of “Citizen Journalists” project in Syria. The aim of the project is to increase media literacy of local “citizen journalists” to increase social awareness of development-related issues of women and young people in the local media. The project has two main objectives:This will be a part-time position based remotely, and will be contingent on award and funding.
